Oyo govt assures Falconets of full support as team lands in Ibadan

The Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, has, on behalf of the state government, officially welcomed Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national football team, the Falconets, to the capital city, Ibadan, where they will take on Rwanda in the second leg of a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.
The match will take place at the Lekan Salami Stadium this weekend — Saturday, September 27, to be precise.
While welcoming the players and their officials, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke assured the team of the Oyo State Government’s readiness to support them in their quest for victory.

This upcoming match is expected to not only showcase the team’s skills but also bring economic value to Oyo State, highlighting the strength and passion of the Oyo people — particularly the Oyo female football team, Pacesetter Queens.
As part of the preparations, the Oyo State Government has announced that there will be free entry for the match, demonstrating its commitment to promoting sports development and encouraging youth participation in the state.
The Commissioner stated that Governor Seyi Makinde’s dedication to youth empowerment and sports development is evident in his initiatives aimed at promoting unity, healthy living, and economic growth through sports.
