The Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA) has disbursed funds to 30 communities for the execution of 60 micro-projects aimed at improving grassroots development.
The disbursement ceremony, held at the House of Chiefs in Ibadan on Tuesday, featured projects based on the “felt needs” of each community. These include the construction and renovation of schools, health centers, erosion control through culverts and drainages, and potable water supply via motorized boreholes.
Chairman of OYCSDA, Hon. Abideen Adetokunbo Adeaga, said the approved projects comprise 18 blocks of three-classroom buildings, seven health centers, five culverts with drainage systems, and 30 motorized boreholes.
Adeaga noted that the projects would boost access to education and healthcare, create local jobs, and reduce the prevalence of waterborne diseases.
He added that OYO-CARES initially targeted 48 communities with a ₦15 million grant per project in 2022. Due to inflation, the grant was raised to ₦18 million, expanding the scope to 256 projects across 114 communities so far.
“In a commendable move, Governor Makinde has approved funding for 30 more communities, reaffirming his commitment to reaching every part of the state,” Adeaga stated.
Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abiodun Muhammed Fadeyi, urged beneficiaries to execute the projects with transparency and accountability.
Chairman of Agbedo Community Management Committee, Prof. Israel Adesiyan, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the state government and OYCSDA, pledging continuous support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration.
