The Oyo State Government has announced that there will be no gate fee for the upcoming Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Rwanda. Residents are encouraged to fill the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on September 27.
The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Wasilat Adegoke, disclosed this on Monday during a press briefing at the Governor’s Office.
She assured the public that the government is fully prepared to host players, match officials, and fans for what she described as a historic encounter.
“This decision reflects Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to inclusiveness and to giving every football-loving Nigerian — especially our people in Oyo State — the opportunity to be part of this global event without barriers,” Adegoke said.
She added that the government would provide adequate security before, during, and after the game, emphasizing that Oyo State remains one of the safest in the country.
Adegoke encouraged residents to attend in large numbers, noting that fan turnout is one of the key criteria for hosting future international matches.
The commissioner further noted that the event would inspire the state’s newly established female football club, Pacesetter Queens FC, and strengthen Oyo’s reputation as a hub for sports development.
