Oyo govt set to name RCCG pastor, Olaoye, new Soun of Ogbomoso

Amidst the controversy trailing the selection process for the next Soun of Ogbomoso, the Oyo State government may announce Prince Afolabi Olaoye as the new monarch of the ancient town any time from now.
Prince Olaoye, a US-based multi-millionaire pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Washington DC is rumoured to be a bosom friend of the Vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo
He was said to have retired from the pulpit to contest for the vacant stool of Soun of Ogbomoso following the demise of Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade on December 12, 2021.
About 23 princes of the Olaoye ruling house picked up interest forms sold for N500,000.
Some aggrieved family members of the Olaoye ruling house and a group in Ogbomoso has faulted the process of selecting the next Soun as conducted by the kingmakers and the local government staff .
They alleged that the process was fraught with corruption, favouritism and undue interference and influence and as such would only lead to chaos, cheating, abuse of culture and traditions as well as court litigations.
It was alleged that Prince Olaoye got included in the list of qualified princes, after money had exchanged hands.
WesternPost reliably gathered that arrangement had been concluded to announce the next Soun but the state government was taking its time to allow for peace and harmony among the aggrieved parties.
