A leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, met with members of the Mogaji of Ibadanland on Saturday as part of consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Ajadi paid a courtesy visit to the Mogajis at Mopo Hall, where he declared that traditional institutions remain critical stakeholders in the political and developmental future of the state.

At the meeting, the PDP aspirant said the visit was aimed at formally informing the traditional family heads of his governorship ambition while seeking their blessings and support, noting that Ibadanland occupies a central position in the politics and development of the state.

While tracing his roots to Osengere in Egbeda Local Government Area, Ajadi stressed his strong ties to Ibadanland and respect for traditional leaders.

He went further to assure the gathering that his administration, if elected, would prioritise grassroots development, youth empowerment and stronger collaboration with traditional institutions, building on the achievements of the current administration under Governor Seyi Makinde, and ensuring the continuity of policies that promote good governance and development across the state.

In a demonstration of support for the traditional institution, Ajadi donated funds to assist the Mogaji forum in completing its ongoing building projects, describing the institution as a vital link between government and the grassroots.

Responding on behalf of the Mogajis, the Aare Mogaji of Ibadanland, Asimiyu Ariyori Adepoju Olorisa, emphasised the strategic importance of traditional family heads in the administration of Ibadanland under the leadership of Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

He advised Ajadi to remain committed to his promises and uphold integrity if elected, noting that political aspirants seeking success in Ibadan must recognise and respect the influence of the Mogajis in community leadership and grassroots mobilisation.
