The Oyo State Mobilization Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OYMASED) has announced plans to commence a sensitization campaign across major markets in the state to promote proper waste management and ensure a cleaner, healthier environment.

The Director-General of OYMASED, Dr. Morohunkola Thomas, made this known during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ibadan South West Local Government, Hon. Kehinde Adeyemi Akande.

Dr. Thomas stressed the importance of proper waste disposal and the need to maintain hygiene in major markets across the state. He said OYMASED aims to partner with local governments to intensify awareness efforts.

He explained that the agency’s mandate includes informing, educating, and sensitizing the public on government policies, programmes, and behavioral change, adding that Ibadan South West was chosen for its elite population and ethnic diversity.

Dr. Thomas further highlighted the achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in improving infrastructure and socio-economic development across Oyo State, noting that these efforts must be sustained.

He emphasized the need for grassroots collaboration to protect the state government’s investments and ensure that the governor’s initiatives reach the people effectively.

The OYMASED boss also urged local governments to support the state’s poverty-to-prosperity agenda by actively promoting government programmes at the grassroots level.

In his response, Hon. Akande agreed that all stakeholders must work together for a cleaner environment, stating, “The change we desire must begin with our leaders, elders, and lawmakers.”
