Oyo lawmaker showcases water projects in mid-term report for constituency

Hon. Akeem Adeniyi Adeyemi, representing Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East, and Oyo West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has presented his mid-term report, highlighting two years of legislative service with a strong focus on water provision initiatives.

The report, titled “Mid-Term Report: 2 Years (2023–2025) of Ogo-Oyo Account of Stewardship, Episode 3 – Water is Life,” detailed several completed, ongoing, and planned projects designed to improve potable water supply across the constituency.

Adeyemi disclosed that ₦1 billion was allocated for the construction of the Fiditi Earth Dam in Afijio Local Government, with ₦300 million already released to the contractor to advance the project. He also assured constituents that the long-stalled Erelu Water Works would soon receive the necessary attention for completion.

In addition to major infrastructure, the lawmaker facilitated the provision of solar-powered boreholes across communities. Beneficiaries include Adewinbi Community, Araromi (May 2023); Boroboro Community, Agunpopo, Atiba LGA (October 16, 2024); Lagunna Community, Atiba LGA (October 16, 2024, in memory of the late Chief S. M. Akindele); Ojo Oluwaye, Basorun Community, Atiba LGA (October 16, 2024); Kolobo Community, Oyo West LGA (October 16, 2024); and Baara Community, Oyo East LGA (October 16, 2024).

Other beneficiaries include Durbar Shopping Complex, Oyo East LGA (October 17, 2024); Agbogangan Muslims Community Premises, Oyo East LGA (October 17, 2024); Idi-Igba Cow Slaughter Slab serving Afijio and Oyo West LGAs (commissioned October 17, 2024); Adebisi Community, Ilora, Afijio LGA (October 17, 2024); and Jobele Community, Afijio LGA (October 17, 2024).

Adeyemi added that additional boreholes are scheduled for commissioning in October 2025 at Idi Iyalode Village, Oyo West LGA, and Alafara Village, via Ijawaya Farm Settlement, Atiba LGA.

Beyond new projects, he noted that several existing boreholes across the constituency have been rehabilitated and restored to working condition, significantly improving residents’ access to clean water.

Adeyemi emphasized that these interventions reflect his commitment to meeting basic needs and improving the welfare of his constituents. He assured residents that more projects are underway and pledged continuity in service delivery.
