The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Asiwaju Akeem Olatunji, has announced a full tertiary education scholarship, including hostel accommodation, for the daughter of his late Personal Assistant, Sulaiman Olatunji, who recently passed away at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

In addition, the chairman donated ₦1,000,000 to the bereaved family to support their immediate needs.

Olatunji made the announcement during a condolence visit to the late aide’s family on Wednesday, June 18. He was accompanied by his two wives, PDP leaders in Oluyole LG, and other local government functionaries.

Present during the visit were Oluyole LG councillors led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Taofeeq Azeez; Chief of Staff; PDP Chairman in Oluyole LG, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola; Local Government Secretary; the PDP Women Leader; and Vice Chairman, Hon. Niyi Akorede.

Speaking at the Muslim family house of the deceased, Olatunji recounted his personal efforts to save Sulaiman’s life, including financing medical treatment and organizing special prayer sessions.

He described Sulaiman as a loyal and hardworking aide he deeply trusted, adding that his death was a painful reminder of the inevitability of God’s will.

“I did everything within my human capacity to save Sulaiman’s life. From hospital treatments at Adeoyo General Hospital to UCH and prayer sessions, we hoped for recovery. But ultimately, we must accept God’s will,” Olatunji said.

Explaining his decision to sponsor the daughter’s education, the LG chairman noted, “If I placed her on a salary because I’m in office, how sustainable would that be after I leave? Her education is the legacy that can secure her future and honour her father’s memory.”
