The Oyo State Government has issued a stern warning to students against engaging in any form of examination malpractice during the ongoing 2025 National Examinations Council (NECO) exams.
The newly appointed chairman of the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mrs. Oladipo Olubukola, gave the warning during a two-day monitoring exercise across secondary schools in the state on Wednesday and Thursday.
Mrs. Olubukola emphasized TESCOM’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards through collaboration with relevant authorities, stressing that any student or staff found engaging in malpractice would face appropriate disciplinary action.
She advised both teachers and students to avoid shortcuts during examinations, noting that such behavior could negatively impact their academic futures. She urged students to focus on their studies to enhance their chances of gaining admission into reputable universities.
Reaffirming the administration’s position, she stated that Governor Seyi Makinde’s government maintains a zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice.
The monitoring team visited several examination centers, including Ibadan Grammar School, St. Anne’s School, Olubi Memorial Grammar School, and Saint Luke’s College, all located in Ibadan.
Commending the governor’s education initiatives, the principal of Ibadan Grammar School, Mr. Ogunleye Biodun, praised Governor Makinde for prioritizing education, promoting teachers to permanent secretary positions, and approving timely promotions within the teaching sector.
