The Oyo State Government has announced the monthly disbursement of ₦60 million to pensioners as part of efforts to clear outstanding arrears.
Chairman of the Oyo State Pension Board, Hon. Tunji Adekunle, disclosed this at a press briefing on Wednesday.
According to him, 22,212 pensioners are currently on the state’s payroll.
Adekunle reiterated the administration’s commitment to the welfare of retirees under Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that pensions are paid on or before the 25th of each month—alongside salaries for active civil servants.
“Since the beginning of this year alone, the State Pension Board has enrolled 142 pensioners in January, 175 in February, 171 in March, and 143 in April,” he said, confirming the ongoing addition of new pensioners.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Mr. Hammed Bello, commended Governor Makinde’s consistent support for retirees, adding that regular pension payments have provided significant relief and helped build public trust in the government.
Bello reaffirmed the Board’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and continuous reforms in pension administration across Oyo State.
