The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State has chosen Alhaji Oladapo Moruf as its consensus chairman ahead of the forthcoming congress. His emergence followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders.
The congress, held on Saturday at Methodist High School, Toll Gate, Ibadan, featured six aspirants: Taofeeq Ogunrinde, Ramoni Jamoje, Moruf Oladapo, Sunday Ogunsade, Hon. Nurudeen Adesola, and Alhaji Oladapo Hamzat.
After deliberations, the other five aspirants agreed to step down and endorsed Moruf as chairman-elect in the interest of unity and stability within the party. They noted that the decision was necessary to preserve the cohesion that has delivered electoral victories since 2019.
Outgoing chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Adegbola, confirmed the development, describing it as a sacrifice made for the collective interest of the party in Oluyole. He formally announced Moruf as the new leader of the local chapter.
In his acceptance remarks, Alhaji Moruf expressed gratitude to stakeholders and party members for the confidence reposed in him. He pledged to promote inclusiveness, discipline, and grassroots mobilization to strengthen the PDP ahead of future elections.
“I deeply appreciate this trust and unity. My leadership will focus on peace, service, and continuity, ensuring the PDP remains a formidable force in Oluyole,” he said.
Party stakeholders present at the event commended the peaceful consensus arrangement. They described it as a sign of maturity and resilience that would further consolidate the PDP’s dominance in the local government.
With this development, the Oluyole PDP is set to present Alhaji Oladapo Moruf as its chairman at the state congress, marking a new chapter of collective resolve for the party.
