Oyo PDP federal lawmaker, Anthony Adepoju, dumps party over ‘unresolved internal crisis’

Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, the House of Representatives member representing Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing unresolved internal crises within the party.

In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward 4, Isale Penbo in Igbo-Ora, Adepoju said the lingering conflicts within the party at both constituency and state levels had negatively affected his responsibilities as a federal lawmaker.

The lawmaker noted that he had remained loyal and committed to the ideals of the PDP since securing the party’s ticket ahead of the 2023 general election, which eventually led to his victory at the polls.

According to him, the internal wrangling within the party created deep divisions in the leadership structure of the party in Oyo State and also hindered his ability to effectively serve the people of his constituency.

Adepoju further explained that his resignation would allow him to concentrate fully on the mandate given to him by the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North without being distracted by party disputes.

While acknowledging that the decision might disappoint many of his supporters both within and outside the country, the federal lawmaker assured them that his next political move would be announced in due course.

He stressed that his immediate priority remains delivering democratic dividends and quality representation to the people of the constituency.
