The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed a viral video suggesting that residents were being abducted by uniformed security personnel.

State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Adewale Osifeso, stated that the chairman of Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, who shared the video, had confirmed it was a recycled clip and that the issues raised were no longer relevant.

Osifeso clarified that the footage was an old recording from the 2020 EndSARS protests and condemned its circulation.

“The recycling of this video at a time when relative security has been achieved can only be attributed to the handiwork of fifth columnists whose modus operandi is to spread unfounded rumors and create apprehension,” he said.

He urged residents to disregard the misleading content and assured them of the police command’s commitment to maintaining security in the state.

The PPRO also quoted Commissioner of Police Johnson Adenola, who reiterated the command’s dedication to ensuring public safety and urged people to refrain from circulating old videos of issues that had already been conclusively addressed.
