Oyo police receive six armoured vehicles from state government

The Oyo State Government has donated six Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the state police command to enhance security operations across the region.
Governor Seyi Makinde, represented by his Deputy, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, officially handed over the vehicles on Tuesday in Ibadan, reiterating the administration’s commitment to improving security infrastructure.
Lawal stated that the APCs would significantly boost the mobility and effectiveness of the police in combating crime and safeguarding lives and property across Oyo State.
Receiving the vehicles, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Johnson Adenola, expressed gratitude to the government, describing Governor Makinde as one of Nigeria’s most security-conscious leaders.
“I have served in several states, and apart from Lagos where the Security Trust Fund is fully operational, Oyo is the only state where the governor is directly involved in and funding security initiatives,” he said.
Adenola noted that the vehicles would strengthen the command’s response to kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal threats, assuring residents of improved safety.
He also encouraged other security agencies to collaborate and make joint use of the APCs, stressing they were available for coordinated operations.
The commissioner reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to maintaining peace and security in partnership with all stakeholders.
