The Oyo State Police Command has rescued Haruna Lawal, who was abducted by unknown gunmen at Olorunda Village, just hours after the incident.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement, attributing the swift rescue to the prompt response of police operatives and the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

According to the statement, the police received a distress call at about 2:10 a.m. from the victim’s sister, Alimot Lawal, reporting that armed assailants had invaded her brother’s residence, abducted him, and fled with his motorcycle.

Following directives from the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, police operatives were immediately deployed to the area. Intensive patrols and bush-combing operations, accompanied by the use of sirens, reportedly forced the kidnappers to abandon the victim, leading to his safe rescue.

Lawal sustained a head injury during the ordeal and is currently receiving medical treatment at the General Hospital in Oyo.

The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information to assist ongoing investigations.

DSP Olayinka reaffirmed the command’s resolve to ensure that criminals find no safe haven in Oyo State.
