Oyo Senator Folarin warns public about fake social media account

Former Senate Leader and Senator representing Oyo Central, Oloye Teslim Kolawole Folarin, OFR, has alerted the public to the existence of a fraudulent Snapchat account created in his name with the intent to defraud unsuspecting individuals.

In a statement on Tuesday, Folarin clarified that he neither owns nor operates any Snapchat account and therefore cannot be responsible for any messages soliciting financial assistance on the platform.

“My attention has been drawn to a fraudulent Snapchat account created in my name, through which unsuspecting members of the public are being contacted and asked for financial assistance. I hereby state clearly that I do not own or operate any Snapchat account,” the senator said.

He condemned the activities of those behind the fake account, describing them as fraudsters, and urged members of the public to disregard such requests.

He further stressed the need for vigilance against the growing wave of online scams.

Reaffirming his commitment to transparency and credibility in public service, Folarin warned that his name must not be linked to any fraudulent activities.

“Please be guided accordingly,” he concluded.
