By Adejayan Gbenga –
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has set up a committee to harmonise residents’ concerns with government plans for the 110-kilometre Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project. The committee, which has begun work, has promised to review all issues raised by property owners with fairness and objectivity.
The committee comprises representatives of affected communities, Ibadan Mogajis from the six impacted local government areas, the chairmen of those LGAs, Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Chairmen Hon. Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, and the Executive Adviser to the Governor on New Towns and Cities Development Authority, Mrs Mofoluke Adebiyi.
Speaking after the inaugural meeting held at the Authority’s conference room in Ibadan, Mrs Adebiyi said the committee would thoroughly examine all issues raised by residents and ensure the governor’s directives on the Circular Road project are properly implemented.
She emphasised that the committee is committed to clear communication of government policies and that affected residents would not be disadvantaged by ongoing developments.
Governor Makinde had earlier met with residents, assuring them that a committee would be constituted to align their submissions with government plans for the Circular Road.
Hon. Sikiru Sanda, speaking on behalf of the affected local government chairmen, praised the governor for fulfilling his promise. He assured property owners that the committee would work closely with community representatives and Ibadan Mogajis to resolve all issues relating to setbacks and development guidelines.
Engr. Abduljelil Adanla, representing the Mogajis, said traditional leaders would support the process by engaging affected residents and ensuring their concerns are adequately presented. He urged the public to remain calm and continue supporting the government.
Other members of the committee include representatives from the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, the Ministry of Works and Transport, and other relevant agencies.
