Oyo: Soun hails Oloolo’s landmark project, urges emulation

The Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, has praised the Oloolo of Oolo, Oba Michael Oyegbami, for initiating a project that promises job creation and new opportunities for the Oolo Kingdom.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Oakonsult Disabilities Outreach Centre in Oolo Town on Tuesday, the Soun commended the Oloolo for prioritizing long-term development over short-term gain, choosing to preserve fertile land—rich with cashew and mango trees—for a legacy project rather than selling it.

He urged other traditional rulers to emulate Oba Oyegbami’s foresight, emphasizing that, “Not every piece of land is meant for sale—some must be preserved as seeds for the future.”

Addressing the people of Oolo, he called on them to continue supporting the initiative:
“Support the visionaries behind this project. Make them feel welcomed and valued, so they never regret choosing your land. This initiative, the first of its kind in Nigeria, could place Oolo firmly on the national map.”

The Soun also expressed appreciation to all who contributed to the project, stating:
“May your contributions yield lasting rewards. Let today mark a new chapter—not just for Oolo, but for all of Ogbomosoland.”
