Oyo Speaker, Chinese Ambassador explore legislative, developmental partnership

The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria (CSSLN), Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Yu Dunhai, at the Chinese Embassy in Abuja.

The high-level meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring strategic partnerships between the Conference of Speakers and the People’s Republic of China.

During the visit, Ogundoyin conveyed the collective goodwill of all 36 state legislatures and emphasized their shared commitment to fostering collaboration with China in areas crucial to Nigeria’s sub-national development.

“We discussed potential areas of cooperation, including legislative capacity building, full digitization of state assemblies, infrastructure development, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), educational exchange programmes, and technology transfer,” the Speaker said.

Ogundoyin expressed appreciation to Ambassador Dunhai for the warm reception and for his willingness to engage on mutually beneficial initiatives.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Conference of Speakers to building partnerships that enhance governance, empower legislative institutions, and bring tangible improvements to the lives of Nigerians at the grassroots.
