The launch which was held at the OYOSUBEB car park in Agodi, Ibadan, marked the start of large-scale distributions of core textbooks, learning aids, and other school resources to public primary and junior secondary schools across Oyo State.

The Chairman of OYOSUBEB, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, said the programme will oversee the distribution of numerous textbooks, continuous assessment cards, school bags, exercise books, pencils, and pairs of BESDA sandals.

He urged school administrators to ensure proper utilization, while stressing that the materials are for classroom use and their impact will improve the performance of students.

Speaking at the event, the UBEC Executive Secretary, Dr. Aisha Garba, ably represented by the Zonal Director, Mrs. Beatrice Okei, said the initiative reinforces commitment to inclusive, quality education and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to strengthen literacy, numeracy, and skills acquisition at the basic level.

She added that UBEC is distributing 15 million school bags, sandals, and writing materials nationwide to reduce the rate of out-of-school children.

In the same vein, OYOSUBEB Executive Board member, Dr. Olukemi Adeosun, described the intervention as a step toward repositioning basic education, while praising the state government’s continued investment in infrastructure, teacher recruitment, and welfare.

The event signaled a renewed collaboration between UBEC and Oyo State to enhance classroom delivery and ensure that every child has access to essential learning tools.
