OYSIEC opens portal for LG election ad hoc staff recruitment

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has commenced the recruitment of ad hoc staff for the December 29, 2026, Local Government Council elections in the state.

The commission said registration for eligible and interested applicants began on October 5 and would close on October 20, 2026.

In a statement signed by the OYSIEC Chairman, Dr. Afees Adeniyi, the commission urged qualified individuals seeking to participate in the elections as ad hoc personnel to register through its electronic recruitment portal within the stipulated period.

The recruitment covers presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, supervisors, ward collation officers, local government returning officers and local government assistant returning officers.

According to the commission, applicants must have a functional phone number and Android-enabled phone, a functional email address, an operational commercial bank account and the required educational qualifications for their preferred positions.

OYSIEC said candidates applying for the positions of presiding officers and assistant presiding officers must possess at least an OND or NCE, while applicants for supervisor and ward collation officer positions must have a minimum of a BA, BSc or HND.

For the positions of local government returning officer and local government assistant returning officer, the commission said applicants must be chief lecturers or hold equivalent positions in tertiary institutions.

OYSIEC therefore urged all interested candidates to complete their registration through its e-recruitment portal on or before October 20, 2026, as part of preparations for the December 29 Local Government Council elections in Oyo State.
