Palm Sunday: Osun deputy governor charges Christians to be pious

Osun State Deputy Governor, Benedict Alabi, has implored Christians in the state to be fervent in prayer and continue to serve God with total submission, as Christians around the world celebrate the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
Alabi added that every Christian must conceive the remembrance of victorious entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem as a reminder of the significance of accepting him into one’s life and the willingness to follow him.
The deputy governor stated this in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Olaniyi Ajibola, on Sunday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Alabi further enjoined Christians in the state to use the occasion of the celebration to reflect more on better way to serve humanity and love one another irrespective of seeming differences.
According to him, the greatest lesson of Palm Sunday is love in the face of persecution, adding that Jesus Christ, despite being persecuted and waiting to be crucified still showed love to people around him.
“The annual remembrance of the victorious entry of our Lord into Jerusalem must naturally resonates acceptance of Christ into our hearts as our eternal saviour.
“We must therefore continue to emulate the rare attributes he displayed by this triumphant entry, which is love despite the precarious condition ahead of him.
“As we celebrate, let us continue to show love to one another irrespective of prevailing circumstances and never forget to pray for our dear state as government is working assiduously to make life better for everyone,” the statement read.
