By Adejayan Gbenga –
Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has called on real estate investors and developers to take advantage of the rapidly expanding infrastructure across Oyo State to drive growth and innovation in the housing sector.
Ogundoyin made the call while delivering the keynote address at the 2nd Oyo State Real Estate Conference held at Jogor Centre, Ibadan. The event, themed “Real Estate and Economic Development in Oyo State: Strategies for Success,” brought together policymakers, developers, and investors to discuss strategies for strengthening the sector.
He noted that Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has laid a strong foundation for real estate growth through massive investments in road networks, intercity connectivity, power, and digital infrastructure, which have opened new frontiers for development in both urban and semi-urban areas.
“Across Oyo State, new roads, industrial corridors, and improved digital access are emerging — these are signs of a forward-looking economy. Smart investors should plug into this,” Ogundoyin said.
The Speaker emphasized that real estate goes beyond buildings, describing it as a key driver of community development, employment, and wealth creation. He assured that the government remains open to public-private partnerships and legislative support to sustain investor confidence.
Ogundoyin also highlighted the Assembly’s efforts to curb land grabbing and improve transparency in land administration. He revealed that the legislature has passed motions urging stricter regulation of real estate practices to tackle exploitation by fraudulent agents.
He added that enforcement of real estate laws must now be prioritized to protect investors and residents, stressing that illegal developers and quacks would face sanctions.
The conference featured panel discussions and networking sessions, with participants commending the state government’s infrastructure drive and the Speaker’s proactive engagement with the real estate sector.
