‘Pasuma cared for my family when I was hospitalised’ — Daddy Showkey

Veteran musician Daddy Showkey has expressed deep gratitude to Fuji singer Wasiu Alabi Pasuma for supporting his family during a life-threatening accident in 2007 that left him hospitalised for three years.

Speaking during a live performance, Daddy Showkey described Pasuma as a true friend who stood by him when others disappeared. “You see this man, he stood by me during bad times and good times,” he said, pointing to Pasuma on stage.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Showkey recounted the ordeal, a moment captured in a viral video circulating on social media.

He revealed that while he battled for his life, it was Pasuma who ensured his wife and children were cared for throughout his absence.

“Many didn’t see me in public or hear my music for years because I had an accident in 2007. I was in the hospital for three years. Pasuma was the one taking care of my family. I can never forget him in my life,” he said.

Daddy Showkey also criticised the entertainment industry’s culture of pretence, recalling how some people he visited after his recovery pretended not to be home. “When I got to their houses, they would say they were not around—even when they were clearly inside,” he added.
