PDP accuses Akpabio of smear campaign against Udom Emmanuel

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of orchestrating a smear campaign against former Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel in an attempt to discredit the party.
In a statement issued by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party alleged that Akpabio is behind a media campaign spreading falsehoods and unsubstantiated corruption allegations against Emmanuel.
According to the PDP, the scheme includes fabricating claims that Emmanuel has been indicted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and circulating misleading figures to tarnish his reputation.
The party dismissed these allegations, stating that Nigerians can see through Akpabio’s political machinations. It further defended Emmanuel’s tenure, describing his administration as one that prioritized transparency, prudent resource management, and extensive infrastructural and human capital development across multiple sectors, including aviation, education, healthcare, and power.
The PDP urged Akpabio to abandon his alleged smear tactics and instead focus on pressing legislative matters in the National Assembly.
