PDP, AMBO Movement trade blame over death of man in Ikire

A political dispute has emerged between the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Movement over the death of a young man, Adesile Seebu, in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.

The PDP, in a statement signed by its Director of Media, Hezekiah Oladele Bamiji, alleged that the killing resulted from renewed attacks allegedly led by a supporter of the AMBO campaign team, Akinkunmi Alabi, popularly known as Ojuyobo.

Bamiji condemned the incident as a “deliberate assault on the peace of Ikire and an attack on the fundamental right of its people to live without fear.” He claimed that Alabi, previously declared wanted during the 2023 elections for violent activities, resurfaced recently at an event attended by the Managing Director of NIWA, Bola Oyebamiji, where residents were allegedly harassed and injured.

He urged the Nigeria Police, DSS, NSCDC, and other security agencies to apprehend those responsible for the killings and restore calm before the situation escalates further.

The AMBO Media Front, in a statement signed by its Coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, dismissed the PDP’s claims as “spurious and baseless,” asserting that the movement had no event or activity in Ikire that would involve its members or APC supporters.

According to Adedeji, Seebu had reportedly been declared wanted by the police in connection with the murder of an APC chieftain, Hon. Remi Abass, on February 17, 2025. He said Seebu resurfaced in Ikire last week alongside other individuals accused of involvement in the same murder during a road flag-off ceremony organized by Senator Lere Oyewumi.

Adedeji added that a violent struggle broke out among PDP thugs over the sharing of iron rods from a road project handled by Senator Oyewumi’s contractor, leading to Seebu’s death.

He called on the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, to launch a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Seebu’s death and the statements circulated by the PDP.
