PDP postpones primary in Osun East

The primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun East has been postponed due to alleged irregularities.

Director of Media of the party, Olabamiji Oladele, said the election was postponed due to security reasons.

The primary was to determine candidates that will represent the party come 2023 in general elections at the House of Representatives and Senate levels.

Akogun Lere Oyewumi and Mr. Oluseyi Fabiyi emerged as senatorial candidates in Osun West and Central respectively.

Oyewumi defeated his opponent, Peter Babalola, a former Chief of Staff in the state and Mr. Dele Adeleke to clinch the ticket of the party for the second consecutive time, having contested in 2019.

Fadeyi also defeated the Osogbo based politician, Gani Olaoluwa and former Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Kamarudeen Ajisafe in Osun Central.

For the House of Representatives, a member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Wole Oke emerged as the candidate of the party for the fifth term.

In Boluwaduro/Ila/Ifedayo Federal Constituency, Clement Akanni Olohunwa emerged as candidate, while Bamidele Salam returned for Ede South/North/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency.

In Osogbo and Ijesha South Federal Constituencies. Maruf Adewale and Sanya Omirin emerged as candidates respectively.

In Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency, Otunba Shola Arambambi emerged winner, Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro returned for Ife Central/East/North/ South Federal Constituency and Soji Adetunji emerged in Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency.
