PDP reschedules S’West, S’South, N’Central congresses

The Peoples Democratic Party has announced the postponement of its zonal congresses initially scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the North Central, South-South, and South-West geopolitical zones.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP said the decision was made in solidarity with the people of Plateau State following recent deadly attacks in the state.

The postponement also aims to allow governors from the affected zones to attend the PDP Governors’ Forum meeting scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, on April 13 and 14.

“The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has approved the postponement of the Party’s Zonal Congress in the North Central, South South and South West Zones earlier scheduled for Saturday, April 12, 2025,” the statement read.

“In solidarity with the governor and people of Plateau State over the recent killings in the state and to enable State Governors in the affected zones attend and fully participate in the PDP Governor’s Forum meeting in Ibadan, the NWC took this decision.”

According to the revised schedule, the South-West Zonal Congress will now take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, while new dates for the North Central and South South congresses will be announced in due course.

Meanwhile, the NWC directed the Chief Emmanuel Ogidi-led South South Zonal Caretaker Committee to continue managing party affairs in the zone until a new executive is elected.
