PDP spokesman, Mimiko’s aide, others join Ondo APC

By Boye Oyeyemi –
Prominent politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Action Alliance (AA) yesterday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State.
The defectors, under the Nigeria Workstation group, were led by Hon. Kennedy Ikantu Peretei, former PDP Publicity Secretary. Others include High Chief Olutope Adebambo, Chief (Mrs) Rachael Ajayi, Hon. Blessing Ologun, and Hon. Omotayo Obolo, a former aide to ex-Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
The event, held at Akure City Hall, was facilitated by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who was represented by Chief Muyiwa Asagunla.
Tunji-Ojo urged residents of the state to unite behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying his administration’s development strides deserved total support.
He applauded the President for major projects ongoing in the state, including the Ore–Akure Road, the Ilesha–Akure–Benin dual carriageway, the Akure–Ado-Ekiti Road, and the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway.
The APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, who received the defectors on behalf of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the party’s National Chairman, welcomed them into what he described as “a progressive family with room for all.”
In his words, Nigeria Workstation convener, Kennedy Peretei, said, “Let me take my reference from Harold Laswell’s universally accepted definition of politics as ‘who gets what, when and how’… If you are in politics and not in government, you are just in a social club.”
