PDP will reclaim power in 2027, says Wabara

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Adolphus Wabara, has expressed confidence that the party will return to power in 2027, despite recent internal crises.
Wabara, speaking during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday, dismissed claims that the PDP was on the brink of collapse. “No matter what our detractors say, this party will never die,” he said. “The God of politics is in this party. The PDP remains the beacon of hope for Nigeria.”
He praised the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) for its resilience and urged unity among members, warning against actions that could create divisions. Wabara noted that the success of the NEC meeting would unsettle those hoping to destabilize the party.
“This meeting alone will shock many people. They will begin to ask who brought us together. They may not believe it’s God and will start looking for a native doctor behind this unity,” Wabara said.
Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, also emphasized that all internal disputes have been resolved. “The NWC has collapsed all differences and rancour. What you’ve seen before in the media — the conflicting press releases — will no longer happen. We are now on the same page,” he declared.
Mohammed dismissed reports of defections as “cosmetic,” designed to weaken the party’s image. He stressed that PDP remains the party to beat, with the structure, history, and human capital to deliver good governance to Nigerians.
He assured that PDP governors are fully behind the party’s leadership and will continue to support the BoT and NWC in strategic planning ahead of the 2027 elections. “All our attackers have been defeated. We will not disappoint Nigerians,” he added.
Both leaders called on party members to prioritize unity, focus on rebuilding the PDP, and work together towards reclaiming power at the national level in the next general election.
