By Boye Oyeyemi –
As preparations begin for the forthcoming congresses of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party’s leadership in Ondo State has said the people of the state are yearning for responsive and accountable governance.
This was disclosed by the state caretaker chairman of the PDP, Bakkita Bello, who spoke during an enlarged meeting of the party’s elders caucus held on Wednesday at the PDP secretariat in Akure.
The meeting came shortly after the national leadership of the party released the official timetable for the 2025 congresses, which will take place in 13 states, including Ondo.
Speaking at the gathering, Bello assured stakeholders that the PDP in Ondo is fully prepared to conduct peaceful and inclusive congresses across all 18 local government areas of the state.
“Our people are yearning for responsive governance, and the PDP stands ready to answer that call,” Bello declared.
He noted that leaders of the party in the state have already aligned with the timetable released by the National Secretariat and described the coming congresses as a vital step towards rebuilding and uniting the party.
Bakita urged party members to set aside internal differences and work together for the common goal of electoral victory.
The meeting had in attendance several notable leaders of the party, including former Deputy Governor Omolade Oluwateru; former governorship candidate, Barr. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN; PDP Board of Trustees member, Olorogun Eddy Olafeso; Barr. Ola Mafo; Chief Segun Adegoke; and former State Chairman, Hon. Clement Faboyede, among others.
