‘Peter Obi runs from tough situations, how does he handle Nigeria’ – Dino Melaye

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has launched a scathing critique of former presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of avoiding difficult political situations and questioning his capacity to lead Nigeria.

In a statement on Tuesday, Melaye said Obi “excused himself from a tough situation,” adding that his actions raise concerns about his ability to govern a country facing complex challenges.

“If he cannot face party tribulations and crisis, how does he intend to handle Nigeria?” Melaye asked, stressing that “Nigeria wahala pass ADC problems.”

The former lawmaker further alleged that Obi has consistently avoided competitive political processes, claiming, “He can only operate in an air-conditioned kitchen. Hot kitchens are not for him.”

Melaye also criticised Obi’s political trajectory, stating, “He has never gone through primary; All Progressives Grand Alliance gave him a free governorship ticket, Atiku Abubakar gave him a free VP ticket, Labour Party gave him a free presidential ticket.”

He further alleged that Obi avoids internal party contests, saying, “He cannot be part of a primary election, the reason why he left PDP, the reason why he left ADC for another free ticket in NDC.”

Melaye additionally claimed that the “NDC is an agency of APC,” though he did not provide evidence for the assertion.

On Sunday, Obi, a former governor of Anambra state announced his defection from the ADC to the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) alongside former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. This move has intensified political discussions across the country.
