Nigeria’s opponent in the third-place match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), being held in Morocco, Egypt, arrived in Casablanca on Thursday for the encounter.

The Super Eagles and the Pharaohs will battle for the bronze medal of the ongoing tournament after losing their semi-final matches to Morocco and Senegal, respectively.

Led by head coach Hossam Hassan, the Egyptians departed Tangier on Wednesday and made the short trip to Casablanca as final preparations began for the encounter scheduled for Saturday, January 17.

Both sides will be aiming to finish the tournament on a positive note after missing out on a place in the final, with a third-place finish serving as consolation for their semi-final defeats.

The two teams are expected to intensify training in Casablanca in the coming days, as soccer fans get ready to watch what promises to be a competitive playoff between two of Africa’s most successful football nations.
