The ancient city of Osogbo came alive on Friday as tourists, cultural enthusiasts, and devotees from within and outside Nigeria gathered for the annual Osun-Osogbo Festival.

The celebration, held at the Osun Sacred Grove, featured colourful processions, traditional music, and dance performances showcasing the rich heritage of the Yoruba people. Foreign visitors joined local patrons in paying homage to the river goddess, Osun, in a spectacle that blended spirituality with cultural tourism.

Dressed in vibrant attires, priests, priestesses, and masqueraders performed rituals at the riverside shrine, while drummers and singers kept the atmosphere festive.

Artisans, traders, and food vendors also took advantage of the influx of visitors, turning the festival grounds into a hub of cultural and commercial activity.

As the festival progressed, local authorities and security agencies were on hand to ensure the safety of participants, while organisers expressed satisfaction with the turnout.
