The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) has proudly announced the appointment of Nigerian actress and producer, Funke Akindele, as its new Goodwill Ambassador.

In this role, Akindele will collaborate with UNAIDS and its Nigeria office to amplify efforts in raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, reducing stigma, and promoting human rights. Her appointment is also aimed at improving access to testing, treatment, and care, as part of the global commitment to ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.

UNAIDS expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that Akindele’s influence and passion will play a critical role in driving positive change.

“Funke Akindele brings immense energy and dedication to this cause, and we look forward to working with her to reach more people with lifesaving information and services,” UNAIDS stated.
