The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has kick-started its 2026 budget defence, engaging key government agencies, ministries and parastatals.
Hon. James Faleke, the member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Finance, revealed this on Friday through his X account.

According to the post, the opening day featured presentations and submissions from the Ministry of Finance, the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), and the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET) before the committee.
In December 2025, President Bola Tinubu presented Nigeria’s 2026 Appropriation Bill—a ₦58.18 trillion fiscal proposal—to a joint session of the National Assembly amid nationwide attention.

Dubbed the “Budget of Consolidation, Renewed Resilience and Shared Prosperity”, the plan reflects the administration’s effort to build on ongoing economic reforms and strengthen macroeconomic stability after challenging years of structural adjustments.
