Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday in Abuja declared open the 4th Annual Meeting of the Africa Sovereign Investors Forum.
During the ceremony, Shettima called for greater cooperation among African countries to promote trade and drive development.
On his social media page, the Vice President wrote:
“Representing my boss, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, earlier today, I declared open the 4th Annual Meeting of the Africa Sovereign Investors Forum (ASIF), hosted by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).

“Delivering his remarks, I called for collective action and regional cooperation among African countries in actualising transformative development across the continent.
“Specifically, I noted that the shrewd utilisation of sovereign wealth funds is crucial to ongoing efforts to close the infrastructure gap, build climate change resilience, and create job opportunities for the continent’s growing youth population.

“For Africa, the time has come to position itself to seize the opportunities embedded in the current wave of global change.”
He urged African nations to take a cue from evolving sovereign wealth funds around the world, which have moved beyond serving merely as fiscal buffers to becoming architects of national transformation.
“Our future lies not in working in silos, but in pursuing regional cooperation and collective ambition. Our sovereign wealth funds must become the anchors of pan-African investment platforms that de-risk projects, standardise processes, and deliver sustainable outcomes at scale. This is not just a strategy — it is a necessity.”
