The United States Mission in Nigeria is deepening its engagement with Osun State through a series of educational and cultural programs.

The U.S. Consulate Public Affairs Officer, Julie McKay, who led the Public Diplomacy team, recently visited Osogbo, the state capital, where she paid a courtesy visit to the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Laaroye II, according to details shared via the Consulate’s X handle.
She also toured the U.S. Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation-funded project at the Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, learning about the heritage site’s rich cultural significance.

The visit also included interactive sessions with various programs led by inspiring U.S. government #ExchangeAlumni, such as Chief Jimoh Buraimoh and Chief Nike Davies-Okundaye, who continue to mentor young creatives.
During the visit, McKay highlighted U.S. government educational and cultural exchange programs at the Osogbo Window on America.

The Consulate team concluded the visit with a meeting with the management of Obafemi Awolowo University, led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adebayo Bamire, where they discussed how U.S.-Nigeria partnerships enhance learning tools and experiences.
