The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, on Thursday received the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 11, Fred Ekokotu, at his palace.

AIG Ekokotu, who is on a two-day duty tour of the Oyo State Police Command, had earlier held a stakeholders’ meeting at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.

Accompanied by the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, Ekokotu described Ogbomoso as his second home, stating, “I started my career here, and I’m married to a daughter of Ogbomoso from Oko in Surulere Local Government. That’s why I chose to visit the Soun.”

The AIG emphasized the importance of traditional rulers in ensuring effective policing, noting that the police require the cooperation and trust of the people.

“We cannot do it alone. That’s why I have come to visit Kabiyesi, to reinforce our relationship and seek continued collaboration,” he said.

Ekokotu assured residents of Ogbomoso and the state at large of the police’s commitment to maintaining safety and order.

In his remarks, Oba Olaoye reaffirmed the town’s commitment to security, saying, “For us in Ogbomoso, the safety of lives and property is paramount.”

He thanked security agencies for their efforts, adding, “We will continue to support you to keep our town secure and welcoming to all.”
