Police arrest man with 1,040 tons of Indian hemp in Lagos

In a recent development, authorities have apprehended a 43-year-old man identified as Obiefule Nwagha for purportedly transporting 1,040 tons of Indian hemp.
The incident unfolded at the Ilufe waterside jetty situated in the bustling Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos State.
According to sources within the police division, detectives from the Tactical Squad, Ijaniki, trailed a white Mercedes Benz mini-truck to the Ilufe Waterside Jetty on April 17, around 4:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, they uncovered a significant quantity of substance suspected to be Indian hemp being offloaded from a flying boat.
Further investigation revealed that 13 sacks contained a total of 1,040 wraps of the illicit substance, which were consequently seized.
The driver of the mini-truck alleged that he was commissioned by an individual named Ifeanyi to transport the contraband from Alaba International Market to the waterside jetty.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hudeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing with efforts focused on apprehending the alleged sender, Ifeanyi.
