Police arrest two suspects for vandalism in Ogun

Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the vandalism of IBEDC installation wires and iron rods in the Ogunmakin area.

The suspects, identified as Agbo Jeremiah, 34, and Sunday Ngbuta, 29, were apprehended on January 20, 2025, by officers attached to the Safer Highway patrol unit.

According to a press statement signed by CSP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, an alert was received around 7:00 PM, prompting swift action by the police.

The incident unfolded near the Macpherson University area, where patrol officers encountered two men carrying rolls of cable wires and iron rods. The suspects requested assistance with transporting their load, raising suspicions that the items might have been stolen.

Upon reaching the overhead bridge at Ogunmakin, the driver of the vehicle carrying the suspects alerted officers stationed at the bridge, further solidifying suspicions. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the materials and the subsequent arrest of the suspects.

Police noted that the suspects were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the origin of the items or prove ownership. Photographs of the stolen materials have been documented as evidence.

The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, and the police have assured the public that further updates will be provided as investigations continue.

The Ogun State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating crime and protecting critical infrastructure in the state.
