Police caution Osun State governor-elect, supporters against hate, derogatory statements

Osun State Police Command has cautioned the governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke and his supporters to celebrate their victory moderately and not cause chaos in the state.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Olawale Olokode gave the warning in a statement signed by the spokesperson of the command, Yemisi Opalola in Osogbo.

Olokode said Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their supporters should avoid hate or derogatory languages that could spark up troubles or cause breach of the peace in the State.

The statement reads in part: “The information that availed the police command revealed that the governor- elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke will be receiving his Certificate of Return from INEC on 20/7/2022.

“In view of this, the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, while mindful of the Police’s constitutional mandates of protection of lives and property, implores all the good people of the State to ensure peaceful environment at all times.

“He also wishes to caution/advice the governor- elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, supporters, political associates and well-wishers in particular to celebrate the victory moderately and avoid hate or derogatory languages that could spark up troubles or cause breach of the peace in the State.

“This caution/advice becomes pertinent as hoodlums/criminals/thugs may capitalize in the guise of celebration to hijack and perpetrate their nefarious acts and jeopardize the peace of the State.”
