Police commence investigation into death of teen found in UI’s swimming pool

The Oyo State Police Command has ordered an investigation into the death of a teenage boy discovered in the swimming pool of the University of Ibadan.
While briefing the public on Sunday, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the command’s public relations officer disclosed that the victim, aged 14–15, was found floating in the pool early Thursday.
According to him, preliminary assessment revealed the presence of blood from the deceased’s mouth and nose as well as minor bruises on the nose. Blood stains were also spotted in the pavilion area
Personal items reportedly belonging to the boy included a pair of shoes and a shirt, recovered near the pool.
Police sources further revealed that the boy’s body was taken to the General Hospital, Adeoyo, where he was confirmed dead and deposited at the mortuary, indicating that the death is being treated as a suspected murder case.
He therefore urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified reports while investigations continue.
