The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of 10 people after gunmen attacked Isapa via Obbo-Ile Village on Monday.

According to a statement on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the command received a distress call at about 6:30 p.m. and promptly deployed patrol units and tactical teams to the area.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a group of armed men, suspected to be herders, invaded the community, firing indiscriminately before abducting 10 residents. One woman was shot in the leg during the attack but has since been treated and discharged.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, visited Isapa for an on-the-spot assessment. During the visit, he met with traditional rulers — the Onisapa of Isapa Land, Oba Gbenga Adeyeye, and the Olokesa of Okesa Land, Oba Olu Fagbamila Raphael Olusegun — along with local and youth leaders, assuring them of intensified efforts to secure the victims’ release and restore public confidence.

The statement added that a coordinated search-and-rescue operation is ongoing, involving police tactical teams and local vigilante groups combing surrounding bushes to apprehend the abductors.

Normalcy has since been restored in the village, and police say the situation remains under close monitoring.
