Police declare a middle-aged man wanted over same sex offence

The Police have declared Mr Somto Valentine Nweze wanted over involvement in alleged homosexuality (Gay)

Homosexuality popularly known as (Gay) or bi-sexual  is an attraction between people who are of the same sex or gender. It is illegal in Nigeria and punishable offence by law, prohibition under session 42 of Nigeria constitution prescribing up to 14 years in prison for violation.

According to the police statement,  Somto was caught in the  act of intimacy with his  partner one, Emeka Henry On 31/08/2025 when his girlfriend caught them in his house and she raised  an alarm which attracted a large number of people  Emaka was eventually killed and burnt by the mob while Somto escaped. 

Homosexuality is against the tradition and custom of his community in Nawfia in Njikoka Local government area of Anambra State, Nigeria.   Even the community  views homosexuality as a taboo.

It was said he fled the scene of the incident, and members of the public were  informed to report his  whereabouts.

The Police said it carried out a thorough investigation on this  criminal act and found it to be true.  According to information they  gathered Somto was also involved in the act  sometime in 31/8/2025 with one  Mr Emeka Henry who  eventually died and Burnt by Mob while process of escape,  and Somto Valentine Nweze fled to unknown destination. 

However,  SOMTO  reportedly escaped in an attempt to apprehend him knowing fully he face rot of the law.

A magistrate court sitting in Anambra State  has issued a warrant of arrest against  Somto Valentine Nweze.

The police spokesman said Somto was last seen in Lagos State Nigeria. 

The Police, thereafter, declared him wanted and implored anyone with any useful information about his whereabouts to contact the nearest police station as various attempts to arrest and prosecute him have proven abortive.
