Police investigate death of 25-year-old man found hanging in Ogun forest

The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of 25-year-old Toye Dominic, who was found hanging in a forest near Alagbodagbo Village, Ijebu Igbo, on March 13, 2025.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the incident was reported by a local hunter, Kareem Olawalose, who discovered the body while on a hunting expedition. Upon making the grim discovery, he alerted nearby villagers, where he encountered the deceased’s elder brother, Joseph Dominic.

Joseph disclosed that Toye had left for the farm earlier that day but had failed to return, prompting a search effort by family members that yielded no results.

When police officers arrived at the scene alongside villagers, they observed that Toye had set aside his farm tools before proceeding deeper into the forest, where he was found hanging from a tree. No suicide note was recovered, and his family expressed shock over the incident.

The police have documented the scene with photographic evidence, and the body has been transferred to the General Hospital, Ijebu Ode, for further examination.

While extending condolences to the bereaved family, the Ogun State Police Command assured the public of a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

Authorities also urged citizens to remain vigilant and seek support for individuals experiencing emotional distress, emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and timely intervention.

Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
