Police investigate industrial accident at Quantum Steels Nigeria Limited

The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into an industrial accident at Quantum Steels Nigeria Limited, located along the Ikorodu-Sagamu Road in Ogijo.

The incident, which occurred on March 2, resulted in severe injuries to seven workers, including both Nigerian and expatriate staff.

The explosion, reportedly caused by a blast from factory machinery, took place at approximately 6:60 p.m. but was formally reported to the Ogijo Police Division on March 5 by a staff member, Joseph Adewale. The injured individuals have been identified as:

  1. Daniel Bala (28)
  2. Mutiu Olajide (39)
  3. Godwin Solomon (27)
  4. Maduabuchi Onwe (27)
  5. Ajun Kumar (37) – Expatriate
  6. Chandan Kumar (50) – Expatriate
  7. Rakash Kumar (30) – Expatriate

All seven victims are currently receiving medical care at Rolayo Hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos State, and are reported to be responding to treatment.

Following the report, police detectives visited the scene, conducted an assessment, and gathered evidence, including photographic documentation. Authorities are now working to determine the cause of the explosion and assess compliance with industrial safety regulations.

The Ogun State Police Command reiterated the importance of workplace safety and urged industries to strictly adhere to safety protocols to prevent similar incidents.

It added that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
