Police launch investigation into murder of farm worker in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the murder of a 50-year-old farm worker, Alfa Mustapha, whose body was discovered on his farm in Ageri Village, near Olodo in Odeda Local Government Area.
According to a statement released on Sunday by CSP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, the case was reported at about 6:30 p.m. on February 22, 2025, by the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha.
The Imam disclosed that the deceased had left for his farm in the morning but failed to return home. Concerned about his absence, he went to the farm at around 6:02 p.m., where he found Mustapha lying face up with his cutlass beside him.
Police officers from the Olodo Outstation, led by the officer in charge, visited the scene and confirmed the victim’s death. However, due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility, no immediate signs of violence were observed. The police documented the scene and evacuated the body to the General Hospital, Odeda, for examination.
A medical assessment later revealed that the deceased had suffered bullet wounds from pellets, indicating he was shot at close range. The body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue for further forensic analysis.
Reacting to the incident, Commissioner of Police CP Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, has ordered a thorough investigation to apprehend those responsible. He assured the public that the Command is committed to ensuring justice and has urged anyone with useful information to come forward, promising confidentiality.
The police have pledged to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
