Police launch investigation into murder of woman, daughter in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the gruesome murder of a woman, popularly known as “Mama Hallelujah,” and her three-year-old daughter, Miracle.

According to the police, on March 18, 2025, at about 8:30 p.m., the Ekiadolor Division received a report from a concerned neighbor who noticed a foul odor coming from the victim’s residence on Idiangbona Street, Ovbiogoe Community.

Acting on the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led operatives to the scene, where they found the door locked from the outside. Upon forcing it open, officers discovered the decomposing bodies of the woman and her daughter. The woman had a deep wound, suspected to be a machete cut, while her child was found lifeless on the bed.

Preliminary investigations have identified the deceased’s live-in partner, Wealth Nnamdi, as the prime suspect. Nnamdi, who was set to marry the victim on March 29, has since gone into hiding.

The Edo State Police Command has assured the public that efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspect.
