The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six suspects over the alleged fraudulent sale and transfer of three heavy-duty vehicles valued at more than ₦71 million.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the suspects were apprehended in Ibadan, Oyo State, following an intelligence-led investigation by operatives of the Fagun Division.
According to the statement, the case was reported on May 22, 2026, by a resident of Ondo town, Mr Paul Aderemi, who alleged that three vehicles he purchased in May 2025 and entrusted to one of the suspects had been sold without his consent.
Police said preliminary findings showed that the vehicles, comprising a low-loader truck, a tipper truck and a smaller truck, were worth about ₦71 million and had been kept under an agreed arrangement before their alleged unlawful disposal.
The command said detectives swung into action after receiving the complaint and arrested the principal suspect, Adeola Kolawole, whose statements reportedly led investigators to other suspects believed to have participated in the transaction.
The other suspects were identified as Alhaji Gani Bello, Oladoja Akeem, Wasiu Adigun, Azeez Yusuf and Ojo Mudasiru. Police said all six suspects had provided statements regarding their alleged roles in the matter.
The command added that efforts were ongoing to recover the vehicles and uncover the full scope of the alleged criminal operation, noting that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Reacting, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Felix Ohagwu, commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling crime, urging residents to continue providing useful information that would assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining security across the state.
